You need to submit the Intaglio prints by Friday, May 11. (2 black prints and one chine colle print)
You need to submit the litho prints by Monday, May 14. (2 black prints and one monoprint)

Your final is Friday, May 18th. All seniors must arrange to take their exams.

Photoshop Editing Directions

Litho Series: Create a “photo” design for a litho series. The design should have both photography and drawing elements by using both sharpie and ballpoint pen. Create two prints using black ink, one print using colored ink, and a series of three images where you combine monotype with litho to create monoprints. 

These prints are due by Friday, May 11.

April 20-May 4: Complete Intaglio and begin Lithography

• Monday: EOCTs, no class.
• Tuesday: EOCTs, no class.
• Wednesday: EOCTs, no class.
• Thursday: Complete Intaglio series and post-planning. Introduce Lithography. 
• Friday: Begin Litho series and planning pages.

April 23-27: Work on Intaglio Print series

• Monday: Work on intaglio plate. Focus on value and creating emphasis. Use "aquatint"for the darkest values. Demo chine colle and tissue staining. Discuss creating paper for alternative monoprints of the intaglio design.
• Tuesday: Work on intaglio plate and alternative papers.
• Wednesday: Discus Post-Planning pages for this project with the post-planning rubric. Work on intaglio series.
• Thursday: Discus Post-Planning pages for this project. Work on intaglio series.

April 16-20: Work on etching project

• Monday: Work on design for etching and on the Pre-Planning pages for etching project.
• Tuesday: Transfer design to etching plate. The first layer should be the main drawing. Focus on creating value through line.
• Wednesday: Pre-Planning Pages for Etching Project are due! Etch the drawing and make first printing. 
• Thursday: Re-apply acrylic resist and etch for darker values. Re-etch.
• Friday: Discuss creating 5 backgrounds to complete the project. Work on printing the 2nd etching.

April 9-13: Intaglio etching

• Monday: Complete the beveling of your zinc plate.
• Tuesday: Work on mini-labs using aluminum flashing. Make the following:
• drypoint
• simple line drawing
• hatching grayscale in 5 shades
• crosshatching grayscale in 5 shades
• Wednesday: Complete aluminum flashing mini-lab.
• Thursday: Work on the intaglio pre-planning and complete design based on the lino print series. 
• Friday: Prepare zinc for etching.

March 26-30: Complete Reductive Lino and begin Intaglio

• Monday: Work on Post-Planning for Reductive Linoleum.
• Tuesday: Introduce Intaglio Printmaking. Handout Pre-Planning Journal. 
• Wednesday: Work on Reductive Lino and Pre-planning for Intaglio.

March 19-23: completing the Reduction Lino Project

For this week, you should be printing your third and, if there are any, fourth colors. You will also complete your Post-planning for this unit.

Next week, we will begin INTAGLIO!

March 5-15: Reductive Lino based on Artist-Inspiration

Ooops, I forgot to blog last week... Last week we were working on our reductive linoleum prints. All should be printing their first color layers for their lino series of 10. Here is your rubric for this project. 

• For this week: You should be printing through the second color layer by Friday. Remember you are printing a 10-print series. You need to take  mid-point photo of the series and discuss what is working.  Project due date will be set by the end of the week. 

February 27-March 2: Plan for 3 color Lino Reduction Print

• Monday: Discuss your print idea based on your journal planning. Begin transferring design to tracing paper. 
• Tuesday: Complete color planning. Begin carving for first color.
• Wednesday: Print first color. 
• Thursday: Begin second color.
• Friday: Continue working on print. 

February 20-24: Research for REductive Linoleum

• Monday: Mid-Winter Break! 
• Tuesday: Critique Monotype/Monoprint books. Work on research for next project.  
• Wednesday: Introduce Unit 2 - Reductive Linoleum. Work on research. 
• Thursday: Begin planning for the color reduction print - take favorite thumbnail and make a color coded working maquette of the print on tracing paper.  
• Friday: Begin transferring the color coded maquette and begin carving for the whites. Research assignment is due!
