Aug 29 - Sep 2: Printing for T-Shirt Design and Poster Research Journal Page


  • Monday First journal assignment is due for students who have been in the class since the beginning! Black t-shirts due for our class designs! Begin cutting designs for the T-Shirts screens. Work in groups on designs, or on journal assignment.

  • Wednesday: Work on T-shirt design or research journal.
  • Thursday First journal assignment is due for students who joined the class later! Work on T-shirt design or research journal.

August 22-26: Pre-Planning Journal Page and T-Shirt Designs

  • Monday 3 tshirt design thumbnails are due. Discuss stencil problems and t-shirt design in three colors for journal. Work on pre-planning pages.
  • TuesdayFinalize tshirt design and complete journal pages. 
  • Wednesday: Work on journal pages.
  • Thursday: T-Shirt designs in color due! Begin reviewing designs for voting.
  • Friday: Complete voting on T-shirt designs. New journal assignment handed out. (located under the Class Information Tab)

August 15 - 19 - Introductions and Serigraphy Journaling


  • Monday Discuss Syllabus, Art Room Expectations, Basic Supply List (all of these can be found under the Class Information and Handouts tab at the top of this page). 
  • TuesdayCollect supply fees and parent/student acknowledgement forms. Introduce Serigraphy and t-shirt designs through a PPT. Students will begin notes that will be needed for their journal. set homework assignment - find 5 favorite t-shirt designs - they can not be all text and not all design, but a mixture of both. Explain in terms of the elements of art what you like about the t-shirt design and why you like the font used in the design.
  • WednesdayAll supply fees, folders, and parent/student acknowledgement forms are due! Set up notebooks and journals. Cut stencils for the journal assignments. Demo how to use stencils with screens.
  • Thursday: Work on journal pages and t-shirt design.
    • Homework due tomorrow - answer the following about your upcoming t-shirt design:
      • Who is your audience?
      • What are you trying to sell?
      • What mood are you trying to create?
  • Friday: Vote on t-shirt designs and begin cutting stencils for the design.
