December 12-16: Print Linoleum and begin Intaglio


  • Monday: Talk about 2nd plate and planning for it. Work on Linoleum.
  • Tuesday: Print Linoleum. Begin Intaglio.  
  • Wednesday: Work on intaglio and linoleum.
  • Thursday: Work on intaglio and linoleum.
  • Friday: Work on Intaglio. Linoleum is due at the end of class. 


On Final Day, Linoleum Planning and Intaglio plate is due!

Nov 21- Nov 22 Collograph and Monotype


  • Monday: Collograph post-plan due! Work on monotype
  • Tuesday: Monotype due at the end of class, monotype journal due Monday 11/28; Take photos for self-portrait Lino Prints
  • Wednesday: Introduce Reduction Linoleum Printing. Give out journal assignment and photograph of each student to work with. Project Description will be reviewed.
  • Thursday: Work on creating a working drawing for the Lino Block. Discuss carving tools for lino and safety. Begin carving.
  • Friday: Work on carving lino block.

Nov. 14- Nov. 18 Monotype

Monday-Print collograph
Tuesday- Last day in class to print collograph, Homework: choose a personal object, draw it from 3 different views and write 10 sentences about why that object holds importance to you.
Wednesday- Check homework; go over monotype journal pages, what to include from minilab and monotype subject matter. Choose 2 sentences from homework and base two mono prints off of inspiration from those sentences
Thursday- Choose two more sentences and base monoprints off of inspiration from those sentences
Friday- Collograph due, continue printing monotype

Oct 31 - Nov 4: From Notan to Collograph Plate


  • Monday: Notan is due at the end of class! Demo Frottage and how to go from the frottage to the collograph plate plan.
  • Tuesday: Pick textures for the collograph plate. Work on color coding and planning textures by color on the the frottage. Begin plates if ready.
  • Wednesday: Make the collograph plate.
  • Thursday: Complete the collograph plate. 
  • Friday: Demo registering paper and printing. Review types of prints needed for the collograph series.

  • Monday: Introduced Notan with a video.
  • Tuesday: Demo how "flip" out the Notan and how to decide where to put it.

August 15 - 19 - Introductions and Serigraphy Journaling


  • Monday Discuss Syllabus, Art Room Expectations, Basic Supply List (all of these can be found under the Class Information and Handouts tab at the top of this page). 
  • TuesdayCollect supply fees and parent/student acknowledgement forms. Introduce Serigraphy and t-shirt designs through a PPT. Students will begin notes that will be needed for their journal. set homework assignment - find 5 favorite t-shirt designs - they can not be all text and not all design, but a mixture of both. Explain in terms of the elements of art what you like about the t-shirt design and why you like the font used in the design.
  • WednesdayAll supply fees, folders, and parent/student acknowledgement forms are due! Set up notebooks and journals. Cut stencils for the journal assignments. Demo how to use stencils with screens.
  • Thursday: Work on journal pages and t-shirt design.
    • Homework due tomorrow - answer the following about your upcoming t-shirt design:
      • Who is your audience?
      • What are you trying to sell?
      • What mood are you trying to create?
  • Friday: Vote on t-shirt designs and begin cutting stencils for the design.
